Why We Walk

We sit with these families every single day.

A diagnosis of Alzheimer's or another dementia rarely arrives alone. It arrives with questions no one prepared for, about safety at home, about money, about what next month looks like, let alone next year.

We meet the daughter who hasn't slept in weeks. The husband who is quietly doing the work of three people. The family that only wants to know they're making the right call. Caregiver stress is real, and it is rarely spoken out loud.

So we plan ahead. We map the care, the costs, the benefits, and the hard conversations before a crisis makes the decision for you, and we stay beside the family while it all unfolds.

At Callahan Care Solutions, our mission has always been simple:

You are not alone.

What This Walk Carries

Four reasons we lace up our shoes.

Support

Helping caregivers feel seen and supported.

Hope

Funding research that moves us closer to treatments and a cure.

Community

Bringing families, professionals, and neighbors together.

Action

Turning compassion into meaningful impact.

Why This Matters

A nurse who kept seeing the same thing.

Ryan Callahan, RN, BSN  Â·  Founder

I've spent more than a decade as a registered nurse, in hospice, in case management, in living rooms at the hardest hour of the night. Dementia families were always the ones who arrived the most exhausted and the least prepared, through no fault of their own.

I watched capable, loving people make enormous decisions with almost no information: which facility, what Medicaid actually covers, whether Dad is still safe on the stairs. Nobody hands you a map. Too often the map only appears after the crisis.

Callahan Care Solutions exists so that families get the map first. The Walk is personal for the same reason. Every dollar raised buys another family a little more time, a little more support, and a little more hope.

"You are not alone."

Meet Our Team

The people you'll be walking with.

A small team, on purpose. When you call, you reach someone who already knows your family's story.

Founder & Nurse Care Planner

Registered nurse with a hospice and case-management background, and a former Fair Hearing Officer for Texas Medicaid. Ryan builds the plans families wish they'd had a year earlier.

If Your Family Is Living With Dementia, We're Here.

The Walk is one day. The caregiving is every day. If you're in the middle of it right now, this is the work we do the other 364 days of the year. It is nurse-led, family-centered, and built around your situation.

Life Care Planning

A personalized roadmap for care, housing, and cost, so decisions are made ahead of the crisis, not during it.

Dementia Education

Plain-language guidance on what's happening, what's coming, and how to respond with less fear.

Long-Term Care Planning

Home care, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing. What each one really costs and when it's the right move.

Care Coordination

One nurse holding the whole picture: doctors, therapists, facilities, attorneys, and the family in between.

Benefit & Medicaid Guidance

Led by a former Texas Medicaid Fair Hearing Officer, covering eligibility, documentation, and appeals, demystified.

Family Support

Someone to call when the plan needs to change, and when you just need to be told you're doing enough.

Questions

Before you register.

Do I need fundraising experience? +

Not at all. Most of our walkers have never fundraised in their lives. Registration takes about two minutes, and the Alzheimer's Association gives you a personal page plus a few pre-written notes you can send to friends and family. If fundraising isn't your thing, simply walking with us still matters.

Can children attend? +

Yes, please bring them. The Walk is intentionally multigenerational and family-friendly, with a short, accessible route, strollers and wheelchairs welcome, and the Promise Garden ceremony that kids tend to remember for years.

What if I can't attend? +

You can still join the team. Register as a virtual walker, walk your own neighborhood that morning, or simply donate and share the page. Being on the roster raises awareness whether or not you're in Georgetown on the day.

Where do donations go? +

Directly to the Alzheimer's Association, not to Callahan Care Solutions. Gifts are processed on the Association's secure site and support research, local care and support programs, and the free 24/7 Helpline at 800.272.3900.

Can I still support Callahan Care Solutions if I don't walk? +

Of course. Share this page with a caregiver who needs it, refer a family who's feeling lost, or reach out yourself for a complimentary consultation. The most valuable thing you can do is make sure one more family knows help exists.

Every Family
Deserves Hope.

Every caregiver deserves support.

Every family deserves guidance.

Every person living with dementia deserves dignity.

Let's walk together.
